Maslenitsa Hermitage Park
The symbol of this Carnival and the effigy has become a Rooster. On one hand this is the traditional russian cock-shaped lollipops, and the symbol of fire and heat on the other. And as the time of Carnival is usually the end of February, and the snow begins to melt and turn gray, but it’s still cold, so we wanted to bring spring with its bright colours closer. We created looking through coloured glass roosters made of transparent plastic, that have been set up in the Hermitage Garden. Also all the people put on yellow lenses glasses to turn gray and wet weather into warm one. The grand finale has become the burning ceremony of effigy of the Carnival. We have constructed an abstract Baba, dressed in a suit of the Rooster. It has been burned.
